Welcome to Wapiti Medical Group!

Wapiti Medical group provides local tenens ER staffing in the Midwest. They staff small to midsize emergency rooms in Minnesota, Wisconsin, Iowa, and South Dakota.

Wapiti Medical Group was formed in 1996 when the founders felt that national emergency staffing companies were being impersonal with physicians, overcharging hospitals and underpaying physicians.

Wapiti Medical Group offers Emergency Department coverage in South Dakota, North Dakota, Minnesota, Wisconsin, and Iowa. Our providers are primary care trained, boarded and specialize in quality rural medicine.

Wapiti Anesthesiology Consultants, Ltd. was started in the spring of 2006.  With our strong reputation for delivering quality emergency room staffing in an economical manner, facilities came to Wapiti to discuss thier anesthesiology staffing needs.

Our group promotes flexibility and tailors our services to the specific needs of each facility.  We know that 70% of all hospital admissions come through the Emergency Department.  We also know that the reputation of a community hospital originates with the interaction between the community and the Emergency Department staff.  We, therefore, only recruit physicians with excelent interpersonal skills who are sensitive to the needs of smaller communities.  We interview and screen all physicians.  Once hired, we provide our own Quality Assurance and peer review to insure that this practice style is maintained.

Our group originated after the senior members of our group developed a dislike of both the existing regional and national locums and Emergency Room staffing companies.  We feel that facilities like dealing with the doctors directly, instead of non-medical personnel.

Locations want to talk to physicians, when scheduling physicians.  Dr McDonald and Dr Baga, with the assistance of Stacy Schmidt and Mary Torgerson in our office, perform the Emergency Department scheduling, usually 45 days in advance for all locations.
We focus on meeting the needs of rural, low to medium volume hospitals and presently staff over 60 facilities in four states in the upper-Midwest.
